Love Crushed Velvet official music video

Since I work with/for/in Love Crushed Velvet, I’m biased about the band. That’s why I’m asking YOU to tell me what you think of this new music video. Be honest. Be critical. Be euphoric with praise. Whatever you want. What do you think?

…If you like this song, you can download it for free at LoveCrushedVelvet.com. And if you REALLY want to help us out, repost this music video and share it with your friends! Thanks!

Okay… I’m going to be honest here. I really like the song, but I am not a huge fan of the video. It’s a vanilla music video. Nothing much is going on in terms of story and it’s not really memorable. I know this sounds like I’m hating on your group, but I really think the song could have a better video which could tell a more interesting story than a rip-off of Eyes Wide Shut. It seems well-produced for a low-budget music video, but I am tired of faceless women dancing in the background of music videos. The song is great though and really catchy. I loved the song before the video, and now that the video has put these images in my head, I will now think of it when I hear the song, which is always a problem with music videos that aren’t as great as the music. I hope you really wanted honest comments because this is how I actually feel.

I know A.L.X. is the front man, but I would have liked to see more of the other band members in the video (particularly Thommy Price–that guy has a cool look). I was expecting more here, but I think it’s a good start. I really like Love Crushed Velvet’s sound. I’m not a fan of the video though. Feels a little too A.L.X.-centric and needs more to keep me interested.

Hi Natasha. Thanks so much for checking out the video and for being honest. The video was actually inspired by Eyes Wide Shut, so the fact that you caught that reference means that it succeeded in communicating its inspiration. I’m guessing you also caught the A Clockwork Orange reference in the shot where A.L.X. is in a chair, and a lady is prying his eyes open and holding a syringe. The whole video is kind of a modest Kubrick homage, so maybe we should clarify that in the description of the video on YouTube, just so it doesn’t seem like an unconscious copycat.

I agree that it would be cool to see more of the band instead of just two members. This was filmed before I got involved, so I don’t know the whole story behind why the rest of the band wasn’t at the video shoot. There may have been scheduling conflicts, since these guys are also pro session musicians who are in pretty high demand.

I’m happy that you like the song, though! You can download it for free, if you want, at the official LCV site or at our BandCamp site: http://lovecrushedvelvet.bandcamp.com/track/love-crushed-velvet And there’s another song, “Burning Embers”, available for free download there, too.

Thanks again for watching and for commenting!

    Hi Linda!

I’m glad you didn’t take offense to what I wrote! I worried after I posted it. I think if you add the Kubrick homage note on YouTube, it would really help. I am going to download the songs. I really like LCV’s sound. I hope the band doesn’t blacklist me for my comments on the video…lol :)

I can’t speak for the whole band, but I for one would never blacklist a fan!
